AL FURJAN
Al Furjan
Al Furjan is a 560 hectare residential development located just off Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, close to Discovery Gardens and Ibn Battuta Mall. Phase 1 was completed in 2014 when 800 villas and 335 apartments were delivered, but there is still much building work to be done before the entire project is finished. However, investor demand following the announcement that Dubai is to host the 2020 World Expo has resulted in the announcement of ten new residential towers and seven hotel apartments.
Al Furjan comprises 819 houses, all with gardens and terraces, half of which are terraced houses while the remainder are three, five and six bedroom detached villas.
Al Furjan is Arabic for a ‘collection of homes’ or ‘small village’ and this place is designed to create a friendly, community environment among residents with houses built in small clusters connected by a series of walkways and parks. All landscaping work, including more than 30 park areas and walkways representing a quarter of the Al Furjan master plan, is now complete.
Facilities and Amenities
Complementing Al Furjan’s terraced homes and villas is Masakin Al Furjan, a complex comprising apartments, a convenience store, café and leisure club with pool and gym. Membership of Masakin leisure club is available to everyone living in Al Furjan.
Al Furjan Pavilion, which opened in December 2016, houses a Spinneys supermarket, 10 food and beverage outlets, 24 shops, a Medicentre clinic and a car park for more than 300 vehicles.
The complex, which is located at the southern end of Al Furjan, includes Al Furjan Club which houses The Glasshouse restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating for 150 people, a 25-metre lap pool, children’s pool, sports court and fully-equipped gym with four fitness studios.
A second Pavilion at Al Furjan, including a mosque for 500 people, is under construction on the western side of the community.
In January 2017 Nakheel announced a series of new, linked cycle routes to be created around its communities in Dubai, including a 40km track through Discovery Gardens, Garden View Villas and Al Furjan. Work on the network of tracks started in mid 2017 and is expected to be finished in 2019.
Travel Guide
Al Furjan is situated alongside the D591 that serves Discovery Gardens, and the E77 Jebel Ali Road, both of which connect to Sheik Zayed Road, the principal spinal highway running the length of Dubai.
Notwithstanding traffic jams as you attempt to access these roads, the journey to Dubai Marina is 20 minutes, Dubai International Airport 40 minutes, the Mall of the Emirates 25 minutes and Downtown Dubai around 30 minutes.
The nearest mall, Ibn Battuta Mall, is less than 15 minutes drive and has its own metro station.
Public Transport:
Al Furjan is not presently served by the Dubai Metro, however an extension to the Red Line linking Nakheel Harbour & Tower station to the Expo 2020 site now has the go-ahead and will be completed by May 2020.
The line will run between Al Furjan and Discovery Gardens with a new station planned for Al Furjan which will connect this neighbourhood to all parts of the metro system.
