MUDON
Mudon
Mudon is a new housing development on the edge of the desert in DubaiLand, at the intersection of Al Qudra Road and the Emirates Road (E611).
Mudon is Arabic for ‘cities’, and what is being built now is about one third the size of the original Mudon project, an ambitious scheme to replicate five ancient Middle Eastern cities - Baghdad, Beirut, Damascus, Cairo, and Marrakech - within one large city. However, in common with many other real estate projects, Mudon was put on hold when the financial crisis hit Dubai and the majority of the land sold to another developer.
Construction at Mudon resumed in 2012 but on a severely scaled down development called Mudon Villas.
Mudon is one of several developments that are still being built, and is the sort of place that attracts investors and those who are prepared to wait for the grass to grow. It seems there is no shortage of buyers as in April 2015 the developer, Dubai Properties, announced that 216 of the four-bed houses in Phase One had been sold.
Mudon is a gated community with round the clock security. It consists of several ready and off-plan neighbourhoods of villas and townhouses.
